DMT( N-dimethyltryptamine ), known as the "Spirit Molecule" is a psychodelic compound that occurs naturally in trace amounts all throughout the plant and animal kingdoms.
What is still not completely understood is WHY it is found in everything from llamas to legumes and even leggy blondes, and what it's connection to and main function with us all is. Speculations run deep and theories are rampant, but it is still a very mysterious member of the tryptamine family indeed.
DMT has its highest concentrations in certain plants in Latin America.
Indigenous tribes have been making snuffs, brews, and teas for Shamanistic purposes, visions of the future, healing, astral travel and contact with their dead ancestors for literally hundreds to even thousands of years.
Dr. Rick Strassman, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of New Mexico, has conducted extensive research in the area of DMT, especially in its relation to the human brain and most profoundly, the pineal gland.( Often known as the "seat of the soul" ).

One of the most intriguing things to me when reading Rick Strassman's book "DMT-The Spirit Molecule" was the uncannily similar "trips" experiencers in his studies had. The same type creatures, beings, and surroundings show up time and again, though the people themselves were very different.
Can DMT possibly open doorways to other dimensions? Can it help us "see" things we wouldn't ordinarily see without its aid? Do some people naturally produce more of it in their systems thereby giving them an edge when it comes to being able to perceive what we label paranormal phenomena? Or is it just another hallucinogen and its commonalities a mere coincidence.
These are questions I have pondered for some time. As more and more people step up and open up about their experiences with strange creatures and other Fortean-like oddities, and television programs shed light on these experiences through reality series and documentaries, the more I wonder if we are on the edge of some kind of major breakthrough in our respective fields of scientific discoveries, and even more than that.......the answer to just how and WHY we are all here in the first place.
