COULD IT BE "CHAMP" ?

Well, you can certainly decide for yourself when you visit my friend Jason's "A Rare Breed" blog and read his post regarding the now famous Olsen video taken in Burlington, Vermont on Lake Champlain : http://talesfromthecryptid.blogspot.com

Be sure to leave them some feedback. I think we would all like to see what the general consensus is on this particular video.

I hope everyone is well and enjoying this terrific weather we're having!

Ta ta for now from your Mistress of the Mysterious!

  1. Yep---I saw the video. I've watched it many times by now.
Cryptomundo has beeen all abuzz about this for a week now.

First they said it was a moose.
But it does not look moose-like. Even an expert "moose-person" agreed that it did not look like one.

Many thought deer---doesn't quite look deer-like, but a tleast it is more believable than moose.
The body is too elongated , however.

Some are not saying "snapping turtle." I must admit that does look somewhat like a turtle (particularly in the way it raise sits head) but the body is simply too BIG. Body too elongated also.

Don't blame Olsen for being media-shy about this. I would do the same thing. Whatever this is, it is genuinely worht studying.
And it does NOT look like it is struggling in the water.
And yes, nice weather, Raven. :)

  2. Good point about the turtle ,Cryptids. I have seen some fairly good sized snapping turtles in my day. Admittedly, nothing of the size of the creature in Olsen's video, though. I think I have to agree with you that the body is too elongated as well.
Has anyone heard of there is any updated analysis on the film itself?

Thanks again for posting cryptids. Its always nice to hear from you!

  3. They have some enhancements over at Cryptomundo of the creature. But ultimately, like Loren says, You can only do so much with a camera-phone, Raven.

This and Sandra Mansi's now-iconic photograph will be the best-remembered images of "Champ."

I tend to think it is the real thing.

Plus, Loren and others have noticed from the enhancements that it appears to be "earless." Which pretty much rules out moose, deer, and the like.

Another possiblity is that it is a seal, but the problem with that is the neck is too long for it to be a seal. The body too elongated---again. And pardon my ignorance, but what are seals doing on Lake Champlain???:)
